Grafitti walls documentation for Falken BBs's
Requirements
1) Falken BBs 6.0 on up running on MSDOS.
2) About 25k of disk space required for all TAGS and files.
3) Registration after 30 days of use, or must be removed from
system.
Setup procedures
1) Make a directory off your main bbs directory called wall.
2) Unzip all the files into this directory
3) Run the creator file it will make a directory off the wall's
directory called Walldata and place the config file there.
4) load up your BBscfg file and place it into your doors menu
with the command line params of the path to where the wall's
exe file is. ie: W WALL\WALL \FALKEN\WALL
^-- ^-------- ^---------
where
'W' is the key to hit for the wall. (Dont have to be W)
'WALL\WALL' is the program filename.
'\FALKEN\WALL\' is the path to the wall's file.
make sure to end in '\'.
5) Test run the program from a remote PC if possible.
1 major drawback is that the BBs will supply a Newline to
the local screen so that the program will not look like it does
from remote, this is a small inconvienence but it is unavoidable
since the wall is programmed in a fasion that puts the BBs in
binary mode. (Currently undergoing corrections)
6) Send in the registration if the program meets your satisfaction
it is an incentive to further develope it, or simply remove it
from use after 30 days.
Usage of the Grafitti Wall
Commands are as followed.
1) Set Maxtags This is a registered feature that will allow all sysops
to set and regulate the ammount of tags left on the system and any
one time after this specified ammount is reached then the command
erase all tags must be used to erase all tags on the bbs.
2) Delete 1 tag this is again only available in the registered version
of the program, this will allow your sysops to remove 1 tag then the
system will renumber all remaining tags. By SysOp I mean anyone with
level 5 access.
3) Write tag will prompt you to enter your message Now for the special
effects of the program you will have to set the terminal up so that
the receive backspace destructive is set to OFF or the program will
not replace the red line when hitting the BS key to some it is no
big deal but i liked the feature and it took a lot of work to get it
right. Hitting CR on the first line will abort the entering of the
tag, you must hit enter on a blank line or come to the end of the
maximum lines of text before it saves the message...
4) Read tags straight forward simply put it reads the messages.
5) Color will turn off the users ANSI codes and display in pure text
mode.
6) Help will tell all of the internal commands will display all
commads if the user is a sysop.
7) Erase tags will allow the sysop to clean up the TAGS in the BBs
and reset all counters to zero.
This is the only SysOp command that is allowed in the unregistered
version of the wall.
8) Quit back to the BBs will clean up all fossil calls and restore
control of the line back to falken and return you to the doors menu
or wherever you came from.
9) Unlock is a new command that will unlock the wall if an unforseen
reason it lockes itself or something happened where it didnt unlock
itself after a user exited the program. This is also a Sysop only
command. The reason being is that if there are more than 1 users
in the wall at any given time they could thrash the system if they
attemp to write at the exact same time. It will now lock the program
and it will remain locked until such time as the user either hangs
up or finishes typing then it will unlock the system and update all
counters.
Thats it for usage if someone can type then they can use this program.
